A Goofy Movie Game Review > Fandom Spotlite

A wacky movie was released in April 1995. Now, over 20 years later, it’s finally getting the love it deserves. Filled with really catchy tunes, great jokes, and a genuinely heartwarming bond between father and son, there’s so much to love about this film. Now people can bring the nostalgia home and enjoy the board game.

A wacky movie game of Funko Games is 2-4 players and takes about 25-30 minutes to complete. Players have a choice of 4 characters. They consist of Max, Roxanne, PJ, and Policeman.

Players then take a deck of cards corresponding to the character they have chosen to play with. These cards have different colors and numbers. These colors and numbers, when played correctly, will help you collect scrapbook cards which will be used at the end of the game to earn points.

Players take turns collecting scrapbook cards and rolling the dice. The cards and the dice help the players as well as Electric line move across the board to get to Los Angeles in time for the big gig. If the scrapbooking deck is out of cards or if Electric line reaches the arena before you do, the game ends. Count your points and see who is the winner.

The game is quick to learn and quick to play. There are still a lot of strategies involved as you collect cards to make combinations to earn more points.

As fans collect scrapbook cards, they’ll see classic moments they might recognize from the movie pictured on them. People who may not have seen the movie can still enjoy the game, as it requires no prior knowledge of the movie to pass or win.

The board is beautifully designed with really vibrant colors. The moving parts are all clear and visible with nice detail showing off each character.

The inconvenients

Clumsy not being a playable character is disappointing. It only serves as a very small way to help gain extra cards during your turn. In the movie, Clumsy is the one who went on a great road trip with his son Maxso it’s a bit strange that you can’t play his character.

I wish there was an expansion pack with more scrapbook cards. While it’s fun and strategic to collect and combine cards, there’s a limit to the combinations. After playing a few times you start remembering which combinations are worth more points and I guess I wish we had a bit more variety.

A wacky movie game is fun for the whole family. It’s easy enough for kids to understand while still having enough nostalgia and strategy to interest adults as well. I loved the movie growing up and I still can’t get those songs out of my head. If you’re like me, you’ll definitely need this game for your collection.
